July update adds almost 2,000 new resources to the OGI

Dear OGIers,

Thanks to some big headaches with FamilySearch (yes, I work for them but they still drive me nuts sometimes), I have added a lot (over 1,400) of their digital books to the database along with a great variety of other resources to help you find your ancestors.

The new total on the Online Genealogical Database is 460,920.

Here are the all important details of today's upload.

  • Archive.org - 26 Digital Books (Parish Registers and Memorial Inscriptions
  • Cornwall OPC - 129 data sets
  • Durham Records Online - 2 new data sets
  • Essex and Suffolk Surnames - 16 new parish data sets
  • FamilySearch Digital Books - 1,435 (Parish Registers and Memorial Inscriptions)
  • Findmypast England Roman Catholic Parish Baptisms - 107 new data sets
  • Findmypast England Roman Catholic Parish Burials - 54 new data sets
  • Findmypast England Roman Catholic Parish Marriages - 86 new data sets
  • FreeReg - 7 new data sets
  • GravestonePhotos - 13 new burial places
  • OPCDorset - 6 new data sets
  • StaffordshireBMD - 9 new data sets
  • TINSTAAFL Marriage Project - 24 new parishes
  • TINSTAAFL Norfolk Baptisms - 4 new parishes
As you can see, the range of available new resources spans multiple counties so there is no specific focus for one place.  That is great for the majority of researchers.

FamilySearch Books only works if you are logged into FamilySearch.org so make sure you have an account (free) and are logged in before clicking on any of those results in an OGI search.  Click on Search then Books to get to that part of the site.

The word is out that Suffolk Parish Registers are coming to Ancestry by 2025 which will be a great benefit for those with ancestors in this East Anglian county.

I hope you all have a wonderful (and hopefully drier) summer and enjoy possibly visiting some ancestral homelands and burial places.

Until the next update,

Tim Manners
